That time is here!! Can you believe its already June? At the beginning of this year, I shared my 6-month Spring/Summer handmade wardrobe plan. I’m really proud of myself for keeping up with my monthly sewing goals so far. Now its time to share my prospects for Fall & Winter. I’ve already started pre-cutting everything and I’m all excited to get sewing. Bonus points for me – almost all of these fabrics came from my stash! I’m making less multiples for Fall/Winter because I know theres so much going on with holidays and such I didn’t want to put too much on my plate. There’s some great stuff ahead, keep reading for all the juicy details!
MAXI SHIRTDRESS – SELF DRAFTED
That would be the lady you see above in red. Y’all, I am so excited about this dress. I decided to self draft because, while there are a few good maxi shirtdress patterns out there (the Reeta from Named and McCalls 6696 come to mind) but neither of these quite fit the bill of what I have in mind. While I could do some hacking, with all the specific details I’m thinking it seems easier just to start from scratch. I plan on sewing it up in this beautiful red with purple floral print crepe de chine. This dress has been floating around in my head for some time and I can’t wait to make it a reality.
MELILOT SHIRT – DEER AND DOE
I’ve loved this shirt since the day they released it, and after seeing so many great versions on instagram I’m really looking forward to making my own. I am a huge fan of button down shirts and I love the casual vibe of this one. I was just too tempted by the sleeves vs sleeveless so I decided to make one of each. This is my only repeat this season but its totally going to be worth it. For the short sleeve version I am using this amazing giraffe print rayon and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be my new favorite shirt. I think this pattern favors slinkier fabrics so for the long sleeve I’m using a pretty green crepe de chine from my stash.
GERARD COAT – REPUBLIQUE DU CHIFFON
This is another pattern I’ve been in love with since its release. It’s got such a great shape and great lines. I love how it looks like you are wearing your boyfriends coat but in the chicest way. I only have one heavier winter coat in my closet and it is longer and a bit more feminine so I think this will be a nice contrast and the perfect second coat to have in my wardrobe. Hoping that I will be good on coats for a while after this make.
MARTHE BLOUSE – REPUBLIQUE DU CHIFFON
My second République du Chiffon pattern of the season. I have been a huge fan of theirs for a while and this will be my first time sewing one of their patterns so I’m really looking forward to it. The Marthe blouse has been on my tbs list for a while so I’m really excited to finally make it. I plan on doing a shorter sleeve version in a really fun space print chiffon from my stash.
ROBERTS COLLECTION OVERALLS – MARILLA WALKER
Yes, another pair of overalls – I think I need to make a pair each season! And these are also going to be navy! But they are different I swear. My previous pair was more fitted, highwaisted, and convertible. I wanted to make a more loose-fitting casual pair for everyday wear. I plan on making view B with some minor changes. I was debating between a few different patterns for this project but when I saw Sara’s version I knew I wanted to make this one. If all goes well I might make a shorts version next spring! P.s. I haven’t seen many makes of it but the woven tee included in this pattern bundle looks super cute! I might have to whip one of those up as well.
GINGER JEANS – CLOSET CASE FILES
Y’all – its FINALLY happening! I am making my own jeans!!! I chose the Gingers because while there are a few different skinny jeans patterns out there this one has the most classic shape and has rave reviews as far as fit goes. This was my only fabric purchase for this collection and I got some amazing cone mills denim I can’t wait to sew with. I plan on making the low rise with the skinny leg. A little nervous about the way I blended those two versions but I think it will turn out ok. Seriously this might be my most looked-forward-to make of the year.
Do you have any exciting makes planned for fall/winter? What do you think of my little capsule collection?
Happy sewing!
