I’m back with another Fibre Mood make! Their summer issue is full of lovely breezy patterns perfect for warm weather. For this issue, I chose to make the Mindy Dress!
As usual, I did a bit of a hack to the Mindy. Instead of sleeves (which are way too hot for Texas summers) I chose to add ruffles to the straps. I also of course had to add some patch pockets. I cut a size 4 and probably could have gone down to the 2.
This beautiful ankara fabric was gifted to me by my amazing cousin Landry, who has a heart for serving others and picked it up for me while she was on a mission trip in Togo, Africa. Backpack space is precious, so she could only manage a meter, but it was so kind of her to think of me while she was there. I’m so happy I was able to make it work!
I had to make some adjustments so the pattern would fit the fabric, so the skirt is not quite as gathered as it should be. I did have enough scraps to make a matching bow, and after shortening the hem a little bit I can probably manage some matching earrings too! I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I’ve been wanting to make more summer “working dresses” out of nice sturdy fabrics that will carry me throughout the day and this is perfect on so many levels!
I definitely plan on keeping this pattern on hand for possible future use. It’s a good one that lends itself to many hack options!
Happy Sewing!
