I think matching sets are my new favorite thing! This one came about when I was being scrappy with some fun leftovers from another project.
I used this gingham canvas fabric to make a skirt that my Aunt requested. I had a bit left and loved her skirt so much that I decided to whip my self up a little pencil skirt using my go-to basic skirt sloper that I self drafted ages ago. I added one giant rectangle pocket with the tiny bit of scraps I had after cutting the top and I love it!
Even after making the skirt I still had a little left and thought it would be super fun to make a matching set! There wasn’t quite enough for a full tank so I did some color blocking with a solid black gabardine I had in my stash which I think helps it not look too overboard. The pattern is the Isabella Tank by Sew Loft and I LOVE the cut and silhouette of this top. I will definitely be making more of these. The company is out of business but you can download their patterns for free here.
The black fringe has been in my stash FOREVER and I’ve been looking for the perfect make to use it on. I think it adds so much fun to this top! It was destashed to me from a pattern maker I used to work for. I have quite a bit more of it and a few more ideas of what to use it for so you will be seeing it again!
Even better, this outfit was almost zero waste. I used almost all of the gingham minus a few small scraps. I do still have a bit of the gingham left.
