Especially during the holiday season, you’re shopping anyway… why not shop for a cause!?!
The following are some of my favorite companies whose proceeds go to a worthy cause. I absolutely love these kinds of organizations and hope to one day work for one or maybe even own one!!
For the Writer:
Head over to Betty & Betts to find beautiful, handmade, organic stationary made by ethical suppliers in India. As a stationary fan (okay..hoarder) these guys top my list of awesome-ness!
Profits go toward schooling and community development programs, and your business helps to provide employment with good wages and fair working conditions!
For the Art Collector:
The Working Proof not only showcases new artistic talent, but they also donate 15% of the sales of each print to a charity of the artists choice.
For the Wino:
Forget turning water into wine, these guys are turning wine sales into fresh drinking water for those who need it! Visit the Cellar Theif for great wines at great prices.
Every Bottle of wine donates 100 days worth of clean water to those who need it!
For the Fashionable Bookworm:
There are so many things I love about Out of Print Clothing. Not only do they feature mostly out of print book covers on shirts, totes, and more, but for each product sold, one book is donated to a community in need through Books for Africa.
Now featuring kids sizes!
For the Gentleman:
Not only are FIGS Ties quite dapper… but they also send one uniform to an underprivileged child with every purchase. They sell bow ties, ties, and scarves.
Your man looks hot, kid gets a uniform, kid gets to go to school.. its that easy.
For the Fashionista:
Much like the Working Proof above, the Community Collection features different designers, each with their own cause to support. These guys are also really great at communicating with each cause, and tracking how each donation gets used!
20% of each sale goes to the specified charity for that designer.
For the Bag Lady:
The Nomi Network is a non-profit that helps victims of sexual slavery not only by equipping these women with skills they can live off of, but also by creating a market for their products. Working with New York designers, their line of bags ranging from totes to Ipad cases to wallets are also made from recycled products.
“Buy her bag not her Body”
Eco-friendly, socially conscious, AND a killer product name… I’m in!
Conscious gift-giving is a beautiful way to spread the love during the holiday season, and most all of the products I’ve listed are quite affordable, and of great quality. So throw some give in your gift! The recipient will be quite pleased too!
