I have the cutest little god daughter who is the biggest girly-girl. Every year I try to get her something handmade (whether by me or through etsy). Often I will make her a little dress or outfit, but ever since See Kate Sew collaborated with Riley Blake fabrics to come out with this doll fabric I’ve known I needed to make this for my sweet Violet.
This project came together so quickly. The pattern is printed directly onto a yard of fabric with the seam allowances included. All you have to do is cut it out and sew it up! Stuffing it was the most time consuming but I just sat on the couch with a string of Project Runway episodes and it went by pretty fast. My favorite thing about this pattern is the size. These ain’t no rink-y dink little toys!
The solid pink skirt comes with the pattern, but I thought it would be fun for her to be able to play “dress up”. I whipped up 3 other little skirts from floral scrap fabrics I had laying around the house. I debated doing matching bows to snap on and off for each skirt but I figured for a 4 yr old thats just one more thing to get lost. I only made the girl and ice cream cone for her Christmas gift. Her birthday is in July so I may make the boy for that.
Have you ever made a doll? They really make perfect gifts for the littles in your life. This project has me wishing I wasn’t too old to make one for myself!
Happy Sewing!!
