A playsuit in October!? Sure why not! When you live in Texas, seasons are kind of irrelevant. Also I’m still catching up on summer makes I’ve yet to post. So it’s either post them now or save them till next summer lol.
This adorable bundle of joy is the Peppermint Playsuit which is a FREE PATTERN by Peppermint Magazine. I was intrigued from the first time I saw it. I love the easy, casual vibe of it. It seemed like something fun to have in my wardrobe for those ridiculously hot days of summer when you just want to pull on one loose fitting bit of cloth and go.
I didn’t actually decide to make the pattern till I saw this delicious make in a vintage floral from my friend Molly at The Simple Kind. The pattern was so similar and I knew I had the perfect fabric for it! It immediately went on my make nine.
This super fun floral was a vintage sheet picked up at a flea market or thrift store AGES ago. It is so soft, the colors are so good, and I LOVE the print and the way it doesn’t really have a background all the flowers just mesh together. This is the first major thing I’ve made in this fabric. I used it for a Krissa Crop sample, but sheets are a nice BIG source of fabric so I still have a decent amount left to make something else!
I cut a size A, and was surprised to find that the fit was pretty tight around the bust. I had to let it out as much as I could. Next time I make it, I will probably size up. The fit isn’t quite as boxy as I would like. I was hoping I’d be able to make do without the zipper but it was definitely too fitted.
The instructions were quite easy to follow and the make overall was a quick and easy one. It came together so quickly, I would love to make another next summer!

Have you made this pattern? Do you think 35 is too old to wear a fun floral playsuit!? I say you are as young as you feel!
Happy sewing!
[…] There’s only so many sheets your linen cupboard can hold and old bed sheets are great for using as toiles or testing out a new pattern you may be in the process of drafting! Thrift store finds are often perfect for making retro, bold and patterned pieces too, like this stunning floral number from our very own Mel or this super cute playsuit from Amy Nicole Studio. […]
