In today’s studio update, I’m sharing everything I recently batch cut for my summer sewing queue! Batch cutting is one of my favorite strategies for staying productive in the studio—especially since I use a sewing projector and natural light isn’t always on my side.
In this video, I’m diving into:
- How I plan and prep for batch cutting
- Tips for working with limited yardage and sheer fabrics
- A peek at my favorite patterns for quick summer makes
- The joys (and pitfalls) of cutting several projects in one go
Whether you’re a fellow sewing projector user or just curious how to juggle multiple makes without losing your sewjo, this video is packed with ideas and behind-the-scenes goodness.

🧵 Patterns I Batch Cut:
- Named Clothing Inari Tee – Used for multiple hacks: sheer pleated version, woven crop top, and t-shirt dress with a slit.
- Named Clothing Laurie Tee – Ended up not using this one
- I AM Patterns Cherie Cherie Tee – Boxy tee with high neckline and adorable heart-shaped cutout.
- Etsy Flared Skirt Pattern – A high-slit, flared skirt inspired by a Pinterest image (possibly robot-drafted, TBD 🤖).
🧵 Fabrics & Sources:
- Deadstock Jersey from Mood Fabrics – From the Theory fashion label, used for the sheer pleated tee.
- Vintage Crepe – From stash, used for the woven Inari crop top (no link, but thrift store dreams).
- Tropical Jersey (Low Stretch) – Vintage, used for the Inari dress hack with dramatic slit.
- Silky Parisian Fabric – Souvenir from a Paris trip, used for the flared skirt (travel stash magic ✨).
- Mustard Jersey Knit – Used for the I AM Cherie Cherie Tee (source not specified but probably from stash).
🛠️ Tools & Notions:
- Covered Button Kits – For faux-functional flair on the slit skirt (the “they could unbutton… but they don’t” kind of vibe).
- Sewing Projector – Makes cutting seamless… when the sun cooperates.
- Interfacing I Like – Used where needed, especially around necklines and that heart cutout.
