This project has been finished for so long I am so happy to finally be posting it. Its not news that I love the Ogden Cami by True Bias, but this one is special because it is a super fun refashion that turned a dress I never wore into a tank that gets lots of wear time!
There is so much sustainability happening in this project! I got the original dress second hand from my cousin who I often trade clothes with. It was super cute (hello this print is to die for!) but completely sheer and I didn’t really have a proper slip to go underneath it so it didn’t get much wear. I couldn’t just pass on this unique graphic art-deco print so I decided what better to do with it than make it into an Ogden Cami!
As I mentioned, the fabric is super sheer so I knew I needed to do a full lining rather than the partial lining that the pattern comes with. This gave me the opportunity to make the top fully reversible by putting the right side of the lining towards the body. I used a beautiful blush silk charmeuse from my stash for the lining (which you’ve also seen here). I love that I can switch this top inside out and have a simple, chic neutral cami with fun print straps to wear as an alternative to the vibrant print on the other side.
I’ve made the Ogden before so I knew I didn’t need to make any fit adjustments. So the only edit I did was to cut two of the self layers instead of one self one lining. I decided to do the straps in the print so even when worn on the solid blush side there would still be a fun peak of print.

This is beautiful! It’s a great rescue of a piece you’ll certainly wear to death now. That fabric is so cool! It’s hard to find prints like that in home sewing.
It really is! It was such a unique fabric I couldnt get rid of it. Now I have a unique cami I will wear all the time!
