Now it’s time to tackle the bottom half of the Audie Playsuit. Today’s post in the sewalong I will be highlighting some techniques to get you through some of the more complex parts of the pants construction. Earlier this week I will bring you tips for constructing the pants. These two posts are meant to be used together to help you through the trickier parts of the Audie Playsuit construction.
DARTS: Steps 3 & 6
Darts come up so often in garment sewing. They help give a flat piece of fabric shape to go around the curves of our bodies. Everyone has their own little tricks for getting the perfect darts. This video will help you with steps 3 & 6 if you are new to darts or uncomfortable with them.
SLASH POCKETS: Steps 4a – 4d
I think slash pockets might be my favorite kind of pocket. They look sleek and they are still easy to get in and out of. Plus, it’s kind of fun the way they come together! This video will help you construct your slash pockets as seen in steps 4a – 4d.
BLIND STITCHING: Step
I love a blind stitched hem. I think it looks so clean and polished. However, if you don’t have the extra time to blind stitch a hem, or maybe they just aren’t your style, you could totally opt for a topstitched hem as well! If going for the original blind stitch, use this video to help with step ____.
I’ve got one more video coming for you next week to see how we put it all together with the invisible zipper. I hope you will join me!
P.S. If you need a more in-depth look at making the Audie Playsuit from start to finish, join the Topstitch Makers community for FREE and take part in my LIVE virtual sewalong on October 20th & 22nd.
